Hallmark Cards is a hand-bent playback of Hallmark greeting cards with sound.
The personalized cards are converted into sentimental electronic instruments equipped with modified punch lines. Once open, the copy-righted audio material is exposed to circuit-bending techniques and physical compression. The resulting audio functions as a cover song.

Jeff Kolar is an audio/visual artist working in Chicago, USA. His work is described as "speaker-shredding" (Half Letter Press) and "amusingly kitschy" (Music For Maniacs). His recent interests include cross-platform collaboration, low-powered radio, and live performance. Jeff is also the administer of Radius, an experimental radio broadcast platform.

Appropriation, détournement, prendre pour restituer, dévoiler quelque chose de déjà présent, rendre audible ce qui se cache entre le circuit, donner une forme de poésie aux prosaïsme de ces objets de masse, défoncer d'la merde au point de la transfigurer.... Les besoins de l'art ne sont pas ceux du commerce.
Jeff Kolar propose ici une série en 5 titres et à partir donc de carte de vœux électronique, pliage et pillage de de cet objet-circuit. L'ouverture de la face B nous offre ce monde merveilleux.
